Philippians 3:20-21 But our citizenship is in heaven and we eagerly await a savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables Him to bring everything under His control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like His glorious body.
Temporal is defined in the Webster’s Dictionary as “of or pertaining to time as opposed to eternal”, and, “of or relating to earthly life”. Our life here is temporal, or temporary if you prefer. It is not only temporary, it is also short. It is so short in fact, that the bible compares our life to a vapor (James 4:14). When I think of a vapor, I think of a puff of steam, which is here for a second or two and then gone. In relation to eternity, that is the totality of our life, vapor. Once you recognize this you could take it one of two ways. You could say that since it is such a short time, and we’ll be long gone before the next evolutionary step of man, our life on earth is of no real importance. But woe to the man of that miserable state. For I cannot comprehend his misery. The other side is that we view our time here as invaluable, priceless, and precious, with not a moment to waste.
